What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Data collected from users and site visitors may include personal data, such as name, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies.

Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with the site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds. By continuing to use the site you agree and actively consent to the collection of such information. Personal information is not sold. Personal information is only collected by this site and its plugins for the purposes described below.

We use the OptinMonster API for creating our email list. Their privacy policy can be found at: https://optinmonster.com/privacy/

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

When Akismet is enabled, only the personal data needed to carry out its core function of protecting against comment spam is collected. In the language of the GDPR, this is a “legitimate interest” use of that data.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We do not sell your information nor make any of your Information available to third parties for their marketing purposes. Gutenberg Technology’s software runs on individual servers and no data are given or collected is shared with other social media platforms. https://www.gutenberg.org/policy/privacy_policy.html

Contact forms

We use WPForms Lite to generate our contact forms. It has limited features and does not allow information entered into our contact forms to be saved on our site or to be viewed by others. The form entry information is emailed directly to us so we may respond to you. We may keep this information for any length of time, up to ten years.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use the Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights plugin for WordPress. It shows us how visitors find and use our website.

MonsterInsights Google Analytics application uses the Google Analytics Reporting API to gather analytics about the site and present that information to us in an actionable way via charts, graphs and tables, visible only to our website administrator.

MonsterInsights only discloses client’s Google Analytics information, with prior user consent, to its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that either: need to know that information in order to process it on MonsterInsights behalf or to provide the services available at MonsterInsights websites; or to provide necessary technical support for their services.

You can learn about the use of Google oAuth permissions here.

Who we share your data with

We do not share any personal data with anyone. Personal information collected via the above-mentioned programs has already been addressed in the previous sections of this privacy policy.

We do not sell your information to anyone either.

How long we retain your data

We keep contact form entries, analytics records, and customer purchase records for up to ten years for in-house records analysis.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
